This adapter replaces the front piece of your CMOS camera. (Perform the front piece replacement in a clean, dust-free environment. Otherwise, dust could enter the sensor chamber). The change can be beneficial for two reasons:

CS-Mount instead of C-Mount!
Many astronomical cameras are equipped with the universal C-Mount connection. Small wide-angle lenses can be attached here. However, most of these lenses require the 5 mm shorter CS-Mount connection to focus. By replacing the C-Mount front piece with the CS-Mount front piece offered here, you can finally use small wide-angle lenses as well.

IR-Cut Filter!
This front piece is equipped with an integrated IR Cut filter. This removes the infrared part of the light. This is especially useful in refractors or small wide-angle lenses to obtain a sharper image.
