Omegon Field Flattener Lens - Perfectly flat planes for great astrophotography

Images obtained with many telescopes, whether refracting or reflecting, suffer from spherical aberration. The image appears slightly domed, and stars at the edges are not as bright or sharp as those in the center. They appear as if they were out of focus. However, the Omegon Field Flattener lens is capable of magically creating flat photographs with point-like stars all the way to the outer edges of the field of view.

Problem with easy solution

Spherical aberration is an image distortion that goes unnoticed through visual observation and in photography with small chips. It becomes noticeable when taking snapshots with large-chip or full-frame cameras. There's always the option of cropping photos and cutting out the edges, but that's not worth the extra money to invest in a good camera. This lens solves the problem more elegantly.

Flatness across the entire visual field

The field of view remains completely flat and the focal length of the equipment is maintained.

For use on f/4 to f/8 telescopes

It can be used on any refractor with an aperture ratio between f/4 and f/8.

M48 thread for greater brightness

It has an M48 thread on each side. This type of thread doesn't limit the amount of incident light like the T2 or M42 do on 2" telescopes. With the M48, you can enjoy the full beam of light.

Other accessories: 109mm Backfocus

To use this lens, a distance of 109 mm is required between the lens plane and the camera chip. This distance is called backfocus. This space allows you to attach other accessories such as a filter wheel or an OAG, and if there's still room to spare, there are always Omegon extension rings of various lengths. Whether you plan to take advantage of this space to add accessories or not, please keep in mind our experts' recommendation regarding the use of adapters.

All the advantages:

  • Flatness of the visual field in refractors
  • Compatible with f/4 to f/8 telescopes
  • M48 thread for greater brightness in 2"

Backfocus from 108 mm, depending on the telescope's focal length. At 500 mm → 118 mm, at 600 mm → 113 mm
