For precise polar positioning

  • Specific for EQ6 / EQ5 mounts

To be fully operational, an equatorial mount must be oriented so that its principal axis (the axis of right ascension) is oriented parallel to the Earth's axis of rotation, that is, it must point to the celestial pole. . In the northern hemisphere, the celestial pole is located not far from the North Star, the main star of the constellation Ursa Minor. This calibration procedure is called station setup.

Positioning can be done quickly by roughly orienting the axis of the mount towards the North Star, which is sufficient for conventional observations. It can also be done using a polar finder. . It is a small bezel on which the actual position of the North Celestial Pole is engraved according to the date. The positioning accuracy of the station is greatly increased.

WARNING : This model is specific for Sky-Watcher equatorial mounts type EQ5, EQ6.
