ZWO has taken another step forward with this new camera. The APS-C sensor allows astronomical photography with large fields of view.
One of the most outstanding features of the ASI 2600 MC/MM Pro is its fantastic light sensitivity. Its QE of 80-90% thanks to BACKLIT technology and very low amplifier glow make the camera very suitable for all astronomical applications, but especially for deep sky imaging.
Other advantages and features of the ASI 2600 MC/MM Pro camera:
USB 3.0 for fast download (can also work with USB 2.0)
DDR3 memory buffer for stable data transfer with USB2.0: minimizes amplifier glow
Powerful Peltier cooling up to 35 °C below ambient conditions
One of Sony's most light-sensitive CMOS sensors
High resolution thanks to 3.76 µm pixels: ideal for fast and sharp telescopes, such as apochromatic, Hyperstar, Celestron Fastar or fast Newtonians
High sensitivity (QE approx. 80% - 90%), making it an ideal astronomical camera for faint objects
16-bit ADC, which can achieve the depth of CCD cameras, but with much higher sensitivity.
Camera application areas:
Deep-sky imaging (nebulae and galaxies): thanks to its high sensitivity, nebulae and galaxies can be viewed in just a few seconds. The camera can be cooled up to 35 °C below ambient temperature, which further reduces the already low noise. By increasing the gain, you can reduce exposure times to less than 30 seconds. This eliminates effects due to tracking inaccuracies.
Lunar and planetary photography: air turbulence is frozen thanks to extremely short exposure times, achieved with very high sensitivity. Due to the high resolution of the sensor, many details can be captured, even with a shorter telescope focal length. Video astronomy is also possible.
Special features of ZWO ASI Pro cameras:
ASI Pro cameras are equipped with an internal 512 MByte DDR3 memory that ensures secure data transfer and reduces the so-called Amp-Glow, which can occur when data is transferred at low speed with USB 2.0.
In addition, ASI Pro cameras have an improved housing. The sensor receptacle is firmly closed with four screws. The design has undergone extensive testing that has demonstrated its extraordinary robustness. In fact, this camera does not suffer from fogging even in environments with high ambient humidity.
And, to ensure impressive deep-sky captures, ASI Pro cameras feature a dual-level Peltier cooling system that cools the sensor to 40 to 45 ºC below ambient temperature and significantly reduces sensor noise.
ZWO ASI cameras with active cooling require an additional 12 V. If you do not have a suitable power supply, please check the recommended accessories.
