Omegon's veTEC 533 C Pro camera is the successor to the popular veTEC 16000. The new Sony IMX533 square sensor maintains the same pixel size (3.8 µm) and includes major improvements:

  • higher quantum efficiency (~80%)
  • lower read noise (~1.3 e- with unity gain)
  • a storage capacity or Full-Well-Capacity highest (50,000 e-)
  • 14 bit ADC
  • the system Zero-Amp-Glow , which eliminates amp glow.

This way you get better dynamic range with less noise!

Like the previous model, this camera is equipped with thermoelectric cooling to minimize image noise.

Although the IMX533 sensor is slightly smaller, its square shape makes it ideal for astronomical photography.

Professional deep sky astrophotography: The huge sensor is perfect for extensive nebulae, star fields, or the lunar surface. Unlike most planetary cameras, this sensor is comparable to larger DSLR cameras.

Thermoelectric Cooling: Cooling system reduces image noise. Up to 40°C below ambient temperature, the noise caused by dark current has almost completely disappeared. In addition, the precise control of the sensor temperature is very useful for calibrating astronomical photographs with dark frames. They can all be taken at the correct temperature. The final images are very clean of noise.

USB Hub: Two additional USB ports on the back of the camera reduce cable chaos. Additional devices (e.g. a guide camera) can be easily connected via this hub. Having an additional cable connection to your PC from each individual device is a thing of the past!

The camera can be adapted to almost any astrophotography setup, thanks to the T2 thread and sensor distance of only 17.5 mm. A 50.8mm adapter allows any 50.8mm eyepiece to be attached to the telescope as well.

Supplied with a sturdy foam-filled case so you can transport your valuable camera safely and with complete peace of mind.

Professional astronomical photography of the planets, the Moon and the Sun: the shadows of Jupiter's moons, the splits in Saturn's rings, details of the Moon's mountain ranges and the impressive prominences on the surface of the Sun... these wonderful targets in our Solar System can only be photographed at high frame rate. This freezes the turbulence in our atmosphere (the so-called seeing), which hides small details from us. This Lucky-imaging technique is now child's play, thanks to the sophisticated electronics and high data transfer speed of USB3.0 cameras. We recommend the Region of Interest (ROI) feature of the included Omegon AstroPhotoCapture software. With it you can optimize the frame rate, because only the part of the sensor relevant to your object of interest is read.

Transmission: A filter protects the sensor chamber from dust and moisture. Omegon Pro color cameras are equipped with a filter that blocks infrared. CMOS sensors also measure incident infrared light and make correct color reproduction in the final image impossible. In contrast, the Omegon Pro mono cameras have an anti-reflective window, which allows ultraviolet and infrared light to pass through in addition to visible light. Additional filters give you full control over the transmission curve, a critical requirement for advanced photographic or photometric applications.

Convenient capture software: With the included Omegon AstroPhotoCapture software you can learn to control the camera easily and quickly. Correct camera settings are crucial in astrophotography. AstroPhotoCapture gives you absolute control over all essential parameters without having to navigate an overloaded interface. Simple tutorials explain the capture process step by step to cap your first night of astronomical photography with success. The software is compatible with Windows 8 and 10.

Compatibility: Omegon Pro cameras are compatible with a wide range of capture programs through the common ASCOM and INDI interfaces. It also has native support for a growing number of PHD2 and NINA programs.
