The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC filter allows you to observe weakly illuminated objects in the Deep Sky

  • UHC nebula filter for emission nebulae
  • Almost completely blocks all artificial light
  • Emission lines: hydrogen and oxygen
  • Thread: 1.25"

Along with air turbulence, night sky illumination poses one of the biggest impediments to observing dimly illuminated objects beyond the solar system. The sky in densely populated areas is not really black due to street lighting and other artificial light sources. The contrast is reduced and, with it, the perception of Deep Sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, a part of this annoying lighting can be filtered, thus facilitating the observation of the objects.

The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC filter takes advantage of the properties of the so-called emission nebula . These objects glow with certain colors, the so-called emission lines. The emission lines are linked to certain chemical elements, in this case hydrogen and oxygen. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thus almost the entire artificial light spectrum) allowing only the penetration of the hydrogen emission lines at 486nm and 656nm, as well as the oxygen lines at 496nm and 501nm. The effect is surprising: suddenly you will be able to observe fogs that, without said filter, would not be noticeable. In dimly lit firmaments, these relatively luminous fogs cannot be observed with a telescope, for example: the Owl Nebula M97, the Veil Nebula Ngc 6992 or even the Dumbbell Nebula M27 . With the use of this filter you will be able to observe nebulae without problems. It is an essential object for any amateur astronomer. The Explore Scientific nebula filter is delivered with an individual Testreport: this way you can ensure that you receive a high-quality filter.
