Optolong Planetary Filter Set with UV/IR, R, G, B and IR685 filters, 5 filters in total.

What filters are used for planetary photography?

In planetary photography, these filters are particularly suitable in combination with monochrome cameras.

The main objective is to capture the specific spectrum, for example, carbon dioxide.

One of the most commonly used filters is the IR filter (infrared filter).

Therefore, when photographing planets, we usually use an IR filter, which only lets through infrared or near-infrared light, to reduce the negative effect of seeing.

In visible light, photographers use classic RGB filters.

For Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Neptune, an IR685 filter is recommended, while for Saturn and Jupiter, UV/IR-Cut filters, as well as R, G and B filters, are ideal.
