No matter how clear the sky is, sometimes the view is blurry: this is due to excess humidity in the air. In these cases, the telescope's optics tend to fog up faster than we'd like. As soon as a thin layer of condensation settles on the secondary mirror, the night of observing is over. But the Omegon heated sleeve will keep humidity at bay. Its durability ensures consistently clear optics. Start enjoying clear nights of observing, regardless of the dew.

The cable with an RCA connector must be plugged into a suitable power source. A 12V DC power supply distributes energy evenly across the entire sleeve at only 0.2 W/cm². This means your sleeve maintains a temperature a few degrees above the outside temperature, eliminating the risk of fogging. Furthermore, it doesn't consume much power, making it battery-friendly.

The heated sleeve can be connected to a pulse controller for energy savings. Tip: As an accessory, we recommend the Omegon anti-fog heater controller. It allows you to connect up to two heated sleeves simultaneously and adjust their performance individually.

Why does the optical tube fog up?

The effects of condensation on the optical tube are well known to anyone who wears glasses. It's generated by the cold air in a warm environment. It suddenly leaves a layer of condensation made up of fine water droplets on the glasses as the warm air condenses on the cold glass surfaces. Well, that's exactly what happens on the lenses of your telescope's optical tube. When the optical tube cools, the condensed water settles on the surface. But that's a thing of the past!

With heated armbands, you can enjoy longer and more productive observing sessions. While your fellow astronomers will have to pack up and go home, you can continue observing for as long as you like.
