Sky-Watcher offers a mount specifically designed for solar observation and photography . Our star is very pleasant to behold (only with a solar filter!), but it's even more pleasurable to observe it with a motorized mount capable of compensating for the Earth's rotation. However, to monitor it properly, it's necessary to adjust the station (calibrate it according to the sky and the observing location)... and during the day, without a star or the famous North Star, the operation is delicate.

So Sky-Watcher came up with the idea of equipping an azimuth mount (similar to the AZ-GTi) with a solar sensor/finder, a GPS, and developing a patented technology: HelioFind™ . Once the user has roughly oriented the mount and tripod toward the Sun, they simply need to level the tripod and press the SolarQuest power button. The mount will level the instrument, obtain the observing site coordinates, the time, the date, and so on. Then, it will point at the Sun and begin tracking. They will just need to center the Sun and the SolarQuest will record the corrections.

When the integrated solar sensor detects our star, it locks onto it indefinitely. Simply observe it with your solar instrument. Observing the Sun has never been easier than with the Sky-Watcher SolarQuest. Given the star's great brightness, short exposure times are sufficient to obtain images, eliminating the need for an equatorial mount. All you need is good software to compensate for the rotational effect of the magnetic field induced by the azimuth mode.
