Eyepiece with measuring scale and diopter adjustment MAGUS ND10S 10x/22 mm (D 30 mm)
Magnification: 10x. Field of view: 22 mm. Measuring scale with 0.1 mm divisions

The eyepiece with a measuring scale is used to measure the size of observed samples and their structures in linear units: millimeters or microns. The measuring scale is located in the field diaphragm plane, with 0.1 mm divisions. The eyepiece with a measuring scale is installed in place of a standard 10x eyepiece. A paired eyepiece without a measuring scale is installed in the second eyepiece tube.

The eyepiece is compatible with microscopes that have a 30 mm eyepiece tube.

Preparation

Before taking measurements, the eyepiece’s measuring scale must be calibrated for each objective to be used. A calibration slide is required for this: a stage micrometer with a scale. The minimum division is 0.01 mm. The calibration slide should be placed on the stage and the microscope focused on the measuring scale. The eyepiece should be rotated in the eyepiece tube until the stage and eyepiece scales are aligned in parallel.

Calculating the value of the eyepiece’s integrated scale increment for each objective

If you are using low magnification objectives, you should calculate how many divisions of the eyepiece’s integrated scale fit within the stage micrometer's scale.

If you are using medium and high magnification objectives, you should calculate how many divisions of the stage micrometer's scale fit within the eyepiece’s scale.

The calculation for each objective is performed according to the formula:
E=TL/A, where
E – eyepiece division value
T – stage division value specified in the stage micrometer (0.01 mm)
L – number of stage micrometer divisions
A – number of eyepiece scale divisions.

The resulting values from calculating the eyepiece’s scale division for each objective should be noted.

Calculating the true linear size of an object

When measuring an object, you must first count the number of eyepiece scale divisions that the object spans. The result is multiplied by the previously calculated scale value for the selected objective. The resulting value will be the true linear value of the object.
