Omegon premium flat field eyepieces – combine a flattened image field with high contrast

Most eyepieces suffer from image distortion at the edge of the field of view. If you move the observed object to the outside of the field of view, it becomes distorted. Omegon's premium flat field eyepieces counteract this effect. Who doesn't want a truly faithful and distortion-free image?
You can get very close to this ideal with flat field eyepieces. These flat field eyepieces include an ED lens element that provides especially good color purity. Their optical construction also means that these eyepieces offer extremely high contrast and sharpness, well above the usual level.

The advantages in a nutshell:

  • Flat field optics, providing a flat field of view.
  • ED element for high contrast and image color purity
  • Wide-angle eyepiece with 60° to 65° field of view
  • Multi-coated on all lens surfaces.
  • 16mm eye distance, suitable for glasses wearers
  • foldable eye cups
  • 1.25" barrel with 1.25" filter thread

Wide field of vision
With an apparent field of view of 60° to 65°, these eyepieces belong to the category of wide-angle eyepieces. Classic "tunnel vision" eyepieces are increasingly left in the drawer. Compared to the well-known Ploessl eyepieces, the premium flat-field eyepieces offer an approximately 20% wider field of view.
The eyepiece body combines up to six lens elements, producing a very high quality eyepiece. All glass/air surfaces are multi-coated, which prevents unwanted reflections and ensures high gloss and transparency. Therefore, you can expect extraordinarily good contrast when observing planets and DSO through these eyepieces.

Between eye and eyepiece

The eye relief of these eyepieces makes their use especially pleasant. There are no shadows, even if you don't look directly along the optical axis. These eyepieces are available in focal lengths of 25/19/15.5/10.5 and 5.5 mm. All of these focal lengths have a large eyepiece diameter, which means that relaxed viewing is possible even at high magnifications. The 16mm eye relief means that these eyepieces are also suitable for spectacle wearers as they typically allow them to see the entire field of view. The eyepieces can be used with most telescopes without problems. Even in Newtonian telescopes with a fast aperture ratio of f/5, the edge of the field of view has good definition.
