Everything you need to know about the Sky-Watcher 120/1000 telescope

Achromatic refractor with a diameter of 120 mm, The Sky-Watcher 120/1000 refractor is one of the large diameter refractors , one of the most versatile, which also allows you to observe the deep sky. In fact, Its 120mm lens reaps 44% more brightness compared to a 100mm refractor . In the absence of a central obstruction, unlike a telescope, this 120mm refractor collects almost as much light as a 130mm Newton. Its focal length of 1000 mm gives it an intermediate aperture ratio of (f/8.33), an appreciable element both in planetary observation and in stellar photography. In visual observation, take a tour of the most beautiful Messier objects and discover the brightest nebulae, galaxies and globular clusters.

The dual air element achromatic objective is multi-coated and provides quality low and medium magnification images of Jupiter, Saturn (the ringed planet), and the many lunar craters. Sun, by completing the instrument with a solar filter , allows sun spots to appear on its surface depending on the day.

Focusing is achieved using a bi-sliding grid eyepiece. A 31.75 mm adapter is supplied as standard to use eyepieces of the same format. A tightening screw located on the top of the eyepiece holder allows you to maintain focus following the orientation of the telescope . The barrel is collimated at the factory and, unlike telescopes, requires no maintenance. A little extra: on the first collar, a Kodak threaded screw allows you to adapt a camera in parallel.

Everything you need to know about the Sky-Watcher NEQ5 mount

The Sky-Watcher NEQ5 Equatorial Mount It is a versatile mount, worthy heir to the legendary Vixen GP . Very modular, it is possible to add several options depending on whether it is intended for observation or photography: motorization, Goto automatic aiming kit, polar scope, etc. Its load capacity is close to 9kg in visual observation. ; The NEQ5 will therefore support numerous optical tubes, from the small 80mm refractor to the Newton telescope up to 200mm in diameter.

In photography we will limit the load to 7.5kg, for greater comfort and precision. Like all equatorial mounts, the NEQ5 is equipped with a set of azimuth and latitude movements (for parking), and a set of right ascension and declination movements for pointing and tracking the stars.

The adaptation of the optical tube is carried out using a Vixen-type female dovetail. An accessory tray guarantees good rigidity of the set. The NEQ5 mount can accommodate a polar finder (option SW0124 ) on the polar axis for quick station setup. The visual observer will appreciate the GOTO SynScan automatic signaling system (optional) delivered via an easy-to-use hand controller. In fact, it is not necessary to know the position of stars or distant bodies in the deep sky, the Go-To system of the NEQ5 mount is responsible for moving the instrument towards the target you want to observe.
