Next night, next level: Omegon RC telescope for astrophotographers
Are you looking for a good telescope to practice astrophotography? With Omegon Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes your astrophotos will go to the next level of quality. Omegon RC telescopes offer a wide field of view and free chromatic aberration, so you can enjoy perfectly round stars right down to the edge of the image. Find out why RC telescopes are the perfect solution for astrophotographers and the first choice for professionals.

Summary of advantages:

  • Hyperbolic mirrors: extremely sharp images and large field of view without correctors
  • BK7 mirrors: greater focus stability without the need for readjustments
  • High reflection: dielectric treatment with 92-94% reflection for clear, contrast-rich observations and astrophotos
  • Fast cooling thanks to open design
  • Electric fan for even more immediate cooling (10" version only)

Hyperbolic mirror for better image quality
RC telescopes are equipped with hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors. Not with spherical mirrors, like Schmidt-Cassegrain systems. This great idea has an advantage: you will get better, sharper astrophotos in a wider useful field of view! Ultra-sharpness is guaranteed thanks to the APS-C sensors, even without concealer. This technology was barely affordable until a few years ago. But now Omegon's new RC telescopes are within the reach of any astronomy fan.

Photos without concealer
Use your astronomical camera or DSLR directly with your telescope. You will no longer need concealer to get photos of stars that are perfectly round and free of chromatic aberration right down to the contour. The 6" RCs are compatible with APS-C format sensors, such as those of the Canon EOS or similar. In the 8 and 10" models you can even use 24x36 mm FullFrame sensors without corrector. In addition, you will also be able to use professional DSLR cameras and the countless astronomical cameras. And if what you want is to take photographs in medium format, do not hesitate to contact us for the appropriate resolution.

Steel tube for greater focus and contrast stability
Apart from the quality of the mirror, the steel tube also plays a fundamental role in taking good astrophotos. Compared to the aluminum tube, this Omegon RC reduces blur by 50%. Additionally, strategically placed scattered light deflectors contribute to increased contrast.

Better image quality than with SC telescopes
RC telescopes are, in essence, completely different from SC or Maksutov telescopes. These are open systems without a correction plate that adjust much faster to room temperature than SC telescopes. In addition, since they do not have a plate on the front, these telescopes capture clearer images without the risk of reflections. Ritchey-Chrétien systems are the most corrected dual-mirror telescopes available. The sharpness of the field of view, including the outline, is impressive. So it's no surprise that virtually all large research telescopes at professional observatories use these types of optical tubes.

And now available to everyone
The manufacture of hyperbolic mirrors is a science and an art. Until not many years ago, RC telescopes were some of the most expensive in the world and were only found in international research institutions. However, today this technology is also affordable for expert amateur astronomers.
