  • A first instrument to get started in planetary observation
  • Motorized to compensate for the earth's rotation and prevent the target from moving
  • Comes with many accessories

With a 114 mm primary mirror, the Sky-Watcher Newton 114 It collects 2.6 times more light than a 70 mm diameter refractor . Under a very dark sky it is possible, unlike with glasses, to see details in deep sky objects (faintly bright by definition: nebulae, star clusters). It promises beginners who want to invest in a "real" telescope not to break the bank and to have many nights of observations rich in discovery. In planetary observation after collimation, it will reveal many details about Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon using a Barlow or a short focal length eyepiece .

Its Newton design offers several advantages over other families of instruments (refractor telescopes and Cassegrain telescopes). Firstly, mirrors are cheaper to manufacture (spherical mirror) for equal diameter and their focal ratio is generally smaller. The central obstruction is also weaker than Cassegrain-type telescopes, If the collimation (mirror adjustment) is well respected, the image quality is good in the planetarium .

The EQ1 mount allows for precise positioning in the sky . The fixing collars allow the telescope to be adapted to the mount. The equatorial mode design allows after parking (simple adjustment of the orientation of the mount towards the North Star) to compensate for rotation not in two axes (altaz mount) but only in one. A motor is present in this version (batteries not included) to add more convenience. After parking, activation of motorization generates tracking of the target object . No need to manually compensate, the object remains in the center of the field.

  • 1 Newton Sky-Watcher 114/900 telescope
  • 1 EQ1 equatorial mount
