With a 200 mm primary mirror, the Sky-Watcher Newton 200 is one of the amateur instruments capable of revealing numerous deep sky objects and details about the planets and the Moon. In fact, Captures 78% more light than a 150mm telescope and promises years of discovery-filled observations for beginners and amateur astronomers alike.

Its Newton design offers several advantages over other instrument families (telescopes and Cassegrain telescopes). Mirrors are cheaper to manufacture for the same diameter and their focal ratio is generally very low. This way you will benefit from an attractive budget for a brilliant telescope that offers a large field of observation (here f/D=5) . The central obstruction is also weaker than that of Cassegrain-type telescopes.

Unlike very cheaply made Newton telescopes or small diameter, the Newton Sky-Watchers of 150, 200, 250 and 300 mm They have a parabolic primary mirror . The mirrors are polished spherically and then trimmed to achieve a parabolic shape (more expensive and difficult to obtain). This is an essential selection criterion for instruments larger than 130 mm and with short f/D .

Focusing is achieved using a dual-flow Crayford eyepiece. A 31.75mm adapter is supplied as standard to use eyepieces of the same format from the 50.8mm output. An adjustment screw located at the bottom of the eyepiece holder allows you to maintain focus by following the orientation of the optical tube.

To present as little obstruction as possible, the secondary (flat) mirror mounting bracket has 4 thin branches , with a width of 0.5 mm. Being sufficiently rigid, they thus limit diffraction peaks in bright stars and excessive loss of luminosity. A 9x50 achromatic viewfinder on its mount is also supplied as standard, as well as 2 Super Plössl eyepieces of 25 mm and 10 mm.

All about the Sky-Watcher NEQ5 mount

The Sky-Watcher NEQ5 Equatorial Mount It is a versatile mount, worthy heir to the legendary Vixen GP . Very modular, it is possible to add several options depending on whether it is intended for observation or photography: motorization, Goto automatic aiming kit, polar sight, etc. Its load capacity is close to 9kg in visual observation. ; The NEQ5 will therefore support numerous optical tubes, from the small 80mm refractor to the Newton telescope up to 200mm in diameter.

In photography we will limit the load to 7.5kg, for greater comfort and precision. Like all equatorial mounts, the NEQ5 is equipped with a set of azimuth and latitude movements (for parking), and a set of right ascension and declination movements for pointing and tracking the stars.

The adaptation of the optical tube is carried out using a Vixen-type female dovetail. An accessory tray guarantees good rigidity of the set. The NEQ5 mount can accommodate a polar finder on the polar axis for quick station setup.

Automated Go-To Marking System

After calibration (setup) with the polar finder on the North Star, select the mount alignment on one, two or three stars. More than 49,200 objects are registered in the database, including the main catalogues. (Messier, NGC, IC as well as the planets, the Moon and the Sun). For maximum convenience, the stand moves quickly, up to 3.4°/sec via the control panel. Easy to use, it helps to quickly point the instrument towards any galaxy, nebula, cluster or object in the solar system. Discover in detail the famous Andromeda galaxy, the fabulous curtains surrounding the heart of Orion, the Hercules cluster M13 and its heart rich in thousands of stars. Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon are also wonders that must be examined without moderation.

The indication on the racket of the date, time and place of observation combined with The "Tour" function allows the NEQ5 mount to point at the most interesting objects throughout the night . Enjoy a guided sky tour at your viewing location by clicking the "Enter" button based on the object presented in a drop-down list. This procedure called "Backlash" requires measuring the time between two opposite movements of the mount. The operation is simple to perform and saves precious time, especially in astrophotography. The object you want to photograph is usually in the center of the sensor... a real pleasure!
