Un nuevo cometa iluminará el cielo de abril: así puedes verlo

A new comet will light up the April sky: here's how you can see it

Comet C/2025 R3 (PANSTARRS) is becoming one of the most interesting astronomical spectacles this spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Hailing from the distant Oort Cloud, this cosmic visitor is rapidly increasing in brightness and can already be observed with binoculars.

When to see it?

During Holy Week and especially in mid-April, it could become bright enough to be visible to the naked eye in dark skies. Its closest approach to the Sun will be on April 19, and a few days later it will pass relatively close to Earth.

Where to look?

You should look for it before dawn, towards the eastern horizon. The comet will move through the constellation Pegasus, making it easier to locate if you use an app or a star chart.

How to best observe it?

  • Wake up 1 hour before dawn
  • Find a location with a clear horizon and little light pollution
  • Use binoculars (7x50 or 10x50) or a telescope with an aperture of 70mm or more to appreciate its tail
  • To the naked eye, if visible, it will appear as a diffuse, greenish-toned smudge

By the end of April, it will fade into the dawn glow, but could later reappear in the evening sky, displaying an even more spectacular dust tail.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a bright comet with your binoculars or telescope.
