The ASI4400MC Pro is the latest full-frame DeepSky camera From ZWO. It sits between the ASI 6200 MC Pro and the AS I2400 MC Pro and offers the perfect balance between image quality and efficiency. This makes it a versatile option in the full-frame range.
The ASI4400MC Pro uses a back-illuminated full-frame sensor with dimensions of 36 × 24 mm and a diagonal of 43.3 mm. With 44 megapixels and 4.4 μm pixels , it offers incredible resolution and light sensitivity. Thanks to its full-frame format, it can capture the entire field of view of your subject without cropping or cut-off edges, making it ideal for wide-field shots and large deep-sky objects.
Each Pixel has a storage capacity of With a full well capacity of 74,600 electrons , it boasts an exceptionally wide dynamic range. Bright stars retain their natural color and level of detail, while faint nebulae and galactic arms remain brilliantly visible. The result is sharper, more balanced images with exceptional depth of tone across the entire field of view.
The ASI4400MC Pro features a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) which allows for a dynamic range of over 13 stops. This wide range enables you to capture both bright stars and fine details of nebulae in a single exposure. The result is a natural and balanced image straight from the camera, giving you ample room for post-processing and fine-tuning.
The ASI4400MC Pro is equipped with a powerful two-stage TEC cooling system This reduces the CMOS sensor temperature by 30 to 35 °C below ambient temperature. This intensive cooling significantly reduces dark current and thermal noise, even in exposures lasting several minutes. The result is a higher signal-to-noise ratio and improved image quality in every image.
Note: Cooling capacity depends on ambient temperature. The lower the ambient temperature, the smaller the temperature difference that can be achieved. Results are based on tests conducted at an ambient temperature of 30°C. Operation below -20°C is not recommended.
The camera effectively suppresses sensor glare thanks to the glare suppression technology developed by ZWO.
Tilt adapter: The ASI4400MC Pro features three pairs of adjustment screws for sensor tilt. Each pair consists of a push screw and a pull screw, allowing you to precisely adjust the sensor's alignment with your telescope's optical axis. This adjustment helps correct even slight tilts that can cause stars to appear distorted or blurry at the edges of the image, ensuring sharp, even focus across the entire image.
512MB DDR3:
The 512MB DDR3 internal image buffer effectively reduces the strain on the computer's bandwidth. This is a huge help for planetary photography, where large amounts of data often need to be written in a short amount of time. Some of the deep-sky astrophotography cameras on the market today typically have only 256MB. This creates a real bottleneck and is a source of image errors.
Anti-fog function: On clear nights , the front glass of the camera gets very cold; the humidity in the air condenses and ruins photos. An ultra-thin polyimide heating element warms the glass just enough to prevent condensation. This "Anti Dew Heater" consumes about 5 watts and can be switched off to save energy.
ZWO ASI cameras with active cooling require an additional 12-volt power supply. If you do not have a suitable power supply, you will find it in the accessories recommendations.
A 12V, 3A–5A DC power supply with a 5.5×2.1mm plug and center positive terminal is required, or an 11–14V lithium battery. Please note that using a power supply outside this voltage range will likely cause irreparable damage to the camera.
