Optolong L-eXtreme 2" Filter

The Optolong L-eXtreme is a 7nm dual-bandpass filter that can be used with single-shot color cameras, DSLRs (digital single-lens reflex cameras), and also with monochrome CCD cameras. It is also suitable for "fast" optical systems. The nature of this filter makes it possible to photograph emission nebulae, even in bright, light-polluted skies. The Optolong L-eXtreme filter isolates the H-alpha and OIII emission lines, maximizing contrast and signal-to-noise ratio. The L-eXtreme is a very good filter for people who live in areas with high light pollution or who want to take photos during a full moon.

Unlike the L-eNhance, which is a triple-band filter (transmitting Hb, Ha, and OIII), the L-eXtreme is a dual-band filter that allows the H-alpha and OIII emission lines to pass.
