Night Sky and Andromeda Galaxy Slide Kit

This expansion pack includes two additional slides for both home planetariums. Sega Toys Homestar Pro Personal Planetarium Original and Sega Toys Homestar Flux Home Planetarium.

The starry sky from the southern hemisphere: The Earth's horizon limits our view of the night sky; we only see half of it. While the slide included with the home planetarium shows the starry sky as seen from the Northern Hemisphere, this one complements it, with views from the Southern Hemisphere. This slide covers about 35°, which is equivalent to the latitude of the Australian capital, Canberra, the New Zealand city of Auckland, or Cape Town and Buenos Aires. Since the slide also shows the Milky Way, the number of stars projected reaches into the millions.

The Andromeda Galaxy: This is a large spiral galaxy near our Milky Way. As its name suggests, this galaxy, composed of billions of stars, is located in the Andromeda constellation. On a clear day, it can be seen with the naked eye. The image on the slide was captured by NASA's WISE satellite in infrared light.
