  • Sky-Watcher EQM-35 equatorial mount, easily transportable, modular version of the NEQ3-2
  • With SynScan automated tracking and pointing (GOTO)
  • Removable declination axis to transform it into a photographic and traveling equatorial mount.
  • Accepts Star Adventurer accessories
  • Load capacity 10kg (tube up to 200mm)
  • Suitable for visual observation and ideal for beginners in astrophotography.

The EQM-35 is a significant evolution of the small NEQ3-2 equatorial mount, enhancing its astrophotographic use. Sky-Watcher has evolved by drawing inspiration from the modularity of its two smaller, nomadic siblings, the Star Adventurer and Star Adventurer Mini, from which it inherits some of its photographic accessories.

The result is therefore a highly modular mount, usable as a classic equatorial mount or as an equatorial photographic mount, the possible configurations of which are identical to those of the Star Adventurer range. Its major advantage remains its maximum load capacity of 10 kg, which allows it to accept optical tubes such as the Newton 150/750 or even the Newton 200/1000 for visual use, or even a 150 mm or 120 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain refractor. From a photographic point of view, this load capacity offers a great deal of freedom, including the freedom to install large professional bodies or long focal length telephoto lenses, with careful balancing.

To make the declination head removable, the right ascension axis has undergone a significant facelift, increasing its diameter and strength, with more massive bearings than on the EQ3-2. As a direct result, the drive gear has been increased from 130 to 180 teeth, improving tracking accuracy.

The EQM-35's great strength is its photoequatorial transformation capability. We immediately notice the similarity to the Vixen GP Photo Guider mount, which seems to have inspired the EQM-35; Sky-Watcher's engineers had the good idea of retaining the ability to re-attach a classic declination axis, something the Japanese manufacturer hadn't allowed. Once the Declination mount is removed and the alternative Vixen-type female dovetail is installed, the same options as on the Star Adventurer mounts remain available: installing a photographic head, a guiding system, an L-bracket with or without a counterweight bar, etc.

Whatever the configuration, the use of the supplied polar visor is fully preserved.

The EQM-35 in classic configuration

The classic configuration of the EQM-35 is a standard equatorial mount, equipped with its two axes of movement: right ascension and declination. It can accept all standard optical tubes via a Vixen-type female dovetail.

The EQM-35 in photographic configuration

The EQM-35's original configuration is an equatorial photographic mount, like the Star Adventurer mounts, without a declination axis. It is replaced by an alternative female dovetail to which we attach, for example, a male photographic dovetail equipped with an optional Congressional threaded screw (3/8"). All accessories for Star Adventurer mounts are compatible.

Automated time attendance system

The Sky-Watcher EQM-35 modular equatorial mount comes standard with a GoTo automatic orientation system, equipped with an original control box to manage both the classic and photographic mount configurations. Removing the declination axis, and therefore the associated motor, does not impair the AD tracking and guiding functions. Of course, in the absence of the Dec motor, GoTo pointing is disabled.

In its Goto configuration, the EQM-35 mount is called the EQM-35 Pro.

The GoTo control box for the EQM-35 Pro modular equatorial mount. The pointing, tracking, and orientation functions are identical to all other GoTo controllers from the brand. The SynScan racket completes the package.

After calibration (setting up) with the polar finder on North Star, select mount alignment on one, two, or three stars. The database contains over 49,200 objects, including all major catalogs (Messier, NGC, IC, as well as the planets, the Moon, and the Sun). For maximum convenience, the mount moves quickly, up to 3.4°/sec, using the control panel. Easy to use, it helps you quickly point the instrument at any galaxy, nebula, cluster, or object in the solar system. Discover in detail the famous Andromeda Galaxy, the fabulous curtains surrounding the heart of Orion, the Hercules cluster M13 and its heart rich in thousands of stars. Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon are also wonders to be examined without restraint.

The date, time, and observing location indication on the mount, combined with the "Tour" function, allows the EQM-35 Pro mount to point to the most interesting objects throughout the evening. Enjoy a guided tour of the sky at your observing location by clicking the "Enter" button based on the object presented in a drop-down list. Pointing accuracy can be as high as 1 arc minute by compensating for the mount's mechanical errors. This procedure, called "Backlash," requires measuring the time between two opposite mount movements. The operation is simple to perform and, especially in astrophotography, saves precious time. The object you wish to photograph is usually located in the center of the sensor... a real pleasure!
