20x magnification objective for a metallurgical microscope. It is optimal for working with eyepieces with 10x to 20x magnification. The useful magnification of a microscope with this objective is in the range of 200–400x; its maximum resolution is 0.69 µm.
The plan achromatic optics correct field curvature by 90% and produce a clear, undistorted image across almost the entire field of view. It is recommended to combine the objective with eyepieces with a wide field of view (22 mm). The combination with a 10x/22 mm eyepiece will produce a field of view 1.1 mm in diameter. Chromatic aberration is corrected for red and blue, and spherical aberration is corrected for green.
A metallurgical objective requires operation without a cover slip. The object of study may have a texture with large height differences, and with a standard objective position, there is a risk of damaging the objective or the sample. For this reason, the MAGUS 20PLL metallurgical microscope objective has a non-standard working distance of 8.8 mm.
The objective is compatible with infinity-corrected microscopes. Its parfocality is 45 mm.
