See the universe in HD EdgeHD is a Schmidt Aplanatic telescope designed to deliver aberration-free images across a wide visual and photographic field of view. The optical system was designed to reduce not only the off-axis coma effect, but also to provide a completely uniform photographic focal plane throughout the entire field of view.

True Astrographic Quality Many self-proclaimed “astrographic” quality optical designs actually produce pinpoint stars along a curved focal plane. While this may be acceptable in visual observations, stars will appear out of focus at the edges when using flat CCD sensors of digital cameras. EdgeHD optics produce a focal plane three times smoother than that offered by classic Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes and radically flatter than other coma-free designs. This ensures that the user will get perfectly defined images across the entire field of the largest CCD sensors currently available.

Even when the object is perfectly defined in the center of the field of view, a curved focal plane will produce out-of-focus images at the edges. The wider the field of view, the more pronounced the defects. Compare the two images below. Both were obtained with the same camera and under identical conditions. Focusing on axis, both images appear well focused in the center. But if you look at the stars near the edge, the stars in the first image (obtained with a competing coma-free design) appear larger and slightly out of focus until, at the edge, the star images are completely out of focus and look like rings. instead of points.

Improved features The features of the EdgeHD design not only offer precise and pleasant images but also improve the resolution and magnitude limit in relation to other telescopes with similar apertures.
Celestron's high-definition optics resolve small spot sizes across the entire field, revealing fine detail and high contrast.

Brighter Images EdgeHD optics provide smaller (more concentrated) stars that create brighter images and allow fainter magnitudes to be achieved relative to other telescopes of similar sizes. Poor image quality at the edges can widely disperse starlight, equating its luminosity with that of the celestial background, making the stars undetectable to the eye or a camera. With EdgeHD optics the user will be able to capture the faintest galaxies in the entire field of a camera sensor.

XLT Coating Every optical surface of Celestron telescopes is coated with the XLT treatment. EdgeHD series models offer maximum light transmission across the entire field of view and photographic spectrum.

Mechanical characteristics In addition to the new optimized optical design, the EdgeHD series tubes have been redesigned to offer the highest possible performance in each observation.

Mirror Support – Flexible tension clutches hold the mirror in position and reduce image sway as the tube rotates around the mount. The flexible rods hold the mirror in position without exerting any pressure or force on the mount, keeping the image centered in the eyepiece (or chip).

Tube Vents – Two vents located on the back of the tube allow hot air to be expelled from the primary mirror. Each vent has an integrated 60 micron micro mesh filter that allows air to be expelled without letting dust particles fall inside.

Fastar Versatility – The EdgeHD series includes today's most versatile telescopes. With the classic f/10 the user can obtain the image scale necessary to capture the smallest deep sky objects. With an optional specific reducer it is possible to increase the field of vision without sacrificing optical performance. A barlow lens offers the added magnification needed for high resolution planetary, lunar and solar imaging. And all EdgeHD optical tubes are compatible with the Fastar system to obtain ultra-fast wide field images – f/2. Each tube is supplied with a removable secondary mirror and are opto-mechanically aligned on a laser optical bench to ensure they are axially symmetrical in any configuration.

Easy Collimation – With its precision-manufactured mechanical parts and spherical secondary mirror, EdgeHD optics can be easily and accurately collimated so the user can take advantage of the tremendous potential these instruments possess.

Celestron Spain is pleased to present to the public the new CGX equatorial mount, the evolution of the CGEM series with mechanical, more technological and ergonomic improvements.

For 8 years the Celestron CGEM mount has been the workhorse, and backbone of equatorial mounts for telescopes ranging from 6 to 11 inches aperture. Since that time many more configurations have emerged and evolved technologically. The Celestron engineering team has applied its years of experience designing German equatorial mounts to the new CGX EQ, this being the culmination of all the advancements made in our technologies, value and ease of use. The new CGX has been designed to better support your telescope, both for observation and astrophotography thanks to its better tracking. The key design includes a lower profile EQ head, which provides a more compact and therefore more stable configuration, a better drive system, better handling and remote operation system with optical limit sensors. Easier adjustments for Polar alignment, and better cable management. In addition to that, we have made mechanical and ergonomic improvements, to make the assembly more robust, easier to use, and to transport. The CGX is our new backbone in equatorial mounts, to support a wide range of telescopes.
