Eyepiece with measuring reticle MAGUS SE10S 10x/22 mm (D 30 mm)

The SE10S eyepiece not only provides 10x magnification but is also equipped with a scale to evaluate the size of the sample or its structures in millimeters or microns. The scale is marked in 0.1 mm divisions and is located in the field diaphragm area of the eyepiece. Before you start measuring, calibrate the scale according to the parameters of each objective you plan to work with. The SE10S model is installed in a 30 mm tube.

Calibration

Calibration is performed with a calibration slide (a stage micrometer). Place it on the stage and focus the microscope on its scale, divided into 0.1 mm segments. Then, rotate the eyepiece in the tube until the divisions of the eyepiece scale are parallel to the divisions of the calibration slide.

Calculation

To calibrate the eyepiece scale for the selected objective, use the following formula:
E=TL/A, where:
E = eyepiece scale division;
T = stage micrometer scale division marked on the stage micrometer (0.01 mm);
L = number of divisions on the stage micrometer;
A = number of divisions on the eyepiece scale.

The value E should be noted for each objective. During sample measurement, count the number of eyepiece scale divisions between the two desired points. Then, multiply this number by E. The result is the linear value of the measured object.
