The adapter fits into an M48x0.75 male thread and extends it to an M54x0.75 male thread.
The adapter itself is only 5 mm shorter. Because the threads are continuous, the adapter's overall length is not visually significant. The adapter has two grooves on one side to facilitate its separation from the connecting adapter.
