ZWO ASI294MM Pro - cooled mono CMOS camera for many types of astrophotography

Asian cameras are synonymous with excellent processing and feature modern CMOS sensors. This versatile camera uses the modern backlit Sony IMX492 sensor in Four Thirds format.

The ZWO ASI294MM Pro's 4.63 µm pixels make it an all-rounder with maximum sensitivity for short exposure times in deep-sky photography. Binning can also be disabled, reducing the pixel size to just 2.32 µm, which increases detail resolution: even planets can be photographed well this way.

Advantages and features of the ASI 294 MM Pro Mono product:

  • USB 3.0 for fast download - can also work with USB 2.0
  • DDR3 buffer memory for stable data transfer with USB 2.0
  • Powerful Peltier cooling up to 35°C below ambient temperature
  • Sensitive CMOS sensor with 23.2 mm diagonal - 11.7 megapixels
  • Good resolution thanks to the 4.63 µm pixels
  • Switchable to a pixel size of 2.32 µm and a resolution of 8288 x 5644
  • Supplied with AR clear glass filter - full transmission even in infrared (if IR blocking is desired, an IR blocking filter is required)
  • Distance between T2 connection thread (female thread) and camera sensor: 17.5 mm
  • Very high sensitivity - QE up to 90% - ideal astronomical camera for faint objects
  • 14-bit ADC
  • HCG mode - if the gain (preamplification) is greater than 120 (12 dB), the readout noise is reduced to below 2 e-. Result: Despite extremely high sensitivity, you will receive images with little noise.
  • High full-well capacity - even bright stars no longer burn out, resulting in a better signal-to-noise ratio.

Fields of application of the camera:

  • Deep-sky imaging (nebulae and galaxies): Thanks to its high sensitivity, images of nebulae and galaxies can be obtained even with short exposure times. The camera can be cooled up to 35°C below ambient temperature. This further reduces the already low noise level.
  • Lunar and planetary imaging: Extremely short exposure times thanks to high sensitivity freeze air turbulence. Thanks to the high sensor resolution, highly detailed images can be obtained even with shorter telescope focal lengths. Video astronomy is also possible.

Important:  An external power supply is required! Please note that all ZWO cameras with a cooler must be connected to an external 12V power source to operate. Even if the cooler is not in use, the power supply must be available for the camera to be reliably recognized.
