The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter allows precise observation of deep-sky objects in low light; narrow band version with 6.5 nm that increases contrast even in difficult urban conditions.
High quality EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter
It only allows the oxygen emission lines to pass
Absorbs all other emission lines and almost all artificial light
Bandpass width: 6.5nm
Narrowband version for difficult urban lighting conditions
Allows greater contrast for faint deep-sky objects
An individual test certificate is included to ensure you receive a top quality filter
One of the most important obstacles to night sky exploration is the illumination of the night sky by artificial lights, such as streetlights. The night sky is not really dark outside of towns or cities, which greatly reduces the visibility of objects beyond the Solar System. Depending on the type of celestial object, it is possible to increase contrast dramatically by blocking interfering artificial light.
The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter uses a characteristic property of so-called emission nebulae. These objects stand out with special colors, the so-called emission lines. These emission lines are linked to chemical elements, in this case, oxygen. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III nebula filter blocks all other colors (and therefore almost all artificial light) and only the two oxygen emission lines can pass through the filter. The result is surprising: suddenly, nebulae are visible in places that were completely empty before using the filters. In suburban skies, for example, the veil nebula NGC 6992 is almost invisible with a 200 mm telescope objective: Using this filter you can see the nebula and its structures without any difficulty. Essential for every visual observer and for astrophotography.
EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC nebula filters are delivered with an individual test certificate - a guarantee of receiving a top quality filter.
The narrow passband of this filter, with a bandwidth of only 6.5 nm, highlights weak emission nebulae or makes them visible even in difficult urban lighting conditions.
