AstroSolar Solar Filter for 280mm ASTF Telescope

The ASTF Series (AstroSolar Telescope Filters) are ideal for medium to large high-end telescopes: An excellent telescope deserves an excellent filter!

Safe solar observation and photography thanks to AstroSolar Safety (OD 5.0) solar filter film. The film is mounted stress-free, preventing any damage to the coating. The high-quality frame has rounded edges that protect the film. In addition, the underside of the film is made of a plastic with the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the film itself. This ensures that heating by sunlight does not generate tension between the film and the filter.

The package includes centering pins with screws and washers. The pins have a rubberized profile and can be adjusted to a wide range of tube diameters. They hold extremely securely! For those who are still unsure, the package also includes three safety straps that can be placed over the pin heads and attached to the tube with Velcro.

Which filter is right for you? The number in the product title or under the "Technical Data" tab indicates the average telescope aperture for which the filter is suitable.

The aperture range for which the filter is suitable is always ten millimeters above and below the specified central aperture. You can find the exact dimensions in the PDF, available under the "Downloads" tab.

The clamping range, i.e., the permissible tube diameter, depends on whether the pins are to be clamped from the outside or the inside. Both options are possible. ASTF series filters include two sets of clamping pins with different diameters, offering even more mounting options.
