The MAGUS Bio 260T microscope is an everyday microscope that can be used for scientific and laboratory research or educational purposes. The microscope works with thin transparent and translucent samples when using the brightfield method. However, additional components can be installed in the device to expand its capabilities and use darkfield, phase contrast, polarized, and fluorescent light methods.
The model is equipped with a revolving nosepiece that can accommodate up to five objectives. The "smart" illumination automatically changes with the rotation of the nosepiece and adapts to the parameters of each objective. Thanks to this feature, there is no need to waste time adjusting the light, which is especially important in the educational process or when it is necessary to frequently change the magnification.

The microscope has a trinocular head that adopts the infinite optical system. The interpupillary distance can be adjusted. Its position is adjusted by rotating the tubes up to 360°. A digital camera is installed in a trinocular tube. The light is distributed to the camera and eyepieces in a 50/50 ratio. The microscope kit includes basic 10x/22 mm eyepieces with a diopter adjustment mechanism. No adjustment is made to the tubes. Eyeglass wearers can benefit from the included rubber eyecups that protect the glass from abrasions and scratches.

The revolving nosepiece for 5 objectives is equipped with an automatic illumination control system. When changing the magnification, the user observes strong fluctuations in the light level in the eyepiece: objectives of different magnifications transmit light differently. Smart illumination allows you to adjust the light level for a specific objective once, and then, by rotating the revolving nosepiece, the light will change automatically. The microscope kit includes 4 objectives; the user can place an objective in the fifth slot as needed. The parfocal distance is 60 mm. The slot above the revolving nosepiece is used to mount the analyzer; when the analyzer is not installed, the slot is closed with a plug.

The specimen stage is designed with a belt drive: the sample moves smoothly and fluidly. There is no X-axis positioning rack, so working with the microscope is more ergonomic and comfortable. The specimen holder is secured with two screws and can be removed when necessary. Another practical detail is the long control handle of the stage. The user can use the microscope with their hands resting on the table without straining their arms or body.

The condenser can be adjusted to the desired position both vertically and in relation to the optical axis (held in a dovetail mount). The iris diaphragm is adjusted by a ring: it has a marker, and the objective magnification indicators are shown on the condenser body. For a contrast image, the marker is adjusted according to the installed working objective. The condenser can be supplemented with a darkfield or phase contrast sliding compensator: there is a special slot for this.

The microscope is focused using coarse and fine adjustment knobs located coaxially. Coarse focusing is done with the button on the left side. There are fine focus knobs on both sides of the stand, and the right one has very practical special finger grooves. The travel adjustment ring provides additional convenience, allowing you to adjust the tension of the coarse focus travel in the way that is most comfortable for you. All knobs and the ring are located at the bottom of the stand: the user controls them by comfortably resting their hands on the table.

The microscope's illumination is provided by a 3W LED mounted in a transmitted light illuminator. The illumination temperature remains stable even with changes in brightness. Optional research methods in this microscope involve the use of Köhler illumination. Thanks to it, the entire field of the specimen is evenly illuminated, and artifacts such as dust or the image of the light source will not be visible through the eyepiece or digital camera.

The integrated display allows you to visualize and adjust selected operating parameters. It is located at the base of the microscope. The display shows the working objective magnification, illumination parameters, operating mode, and automatic shutdown time.

Additional elements can extend the functionality of the device. A set of eyepieces can increase the magnification spectrum. For additional methods of working with specimens that cannot be seen with the brightfield method, it is necessary to supplement the microscope with a phase contrast device, a darkfield slider, or a polarization device. A digital camera can help capture study results in a photo or video or display the image on the screen. You can measure objects using a calibration slide together with an eyepiece with a scale or a digital camera.
