For Astronomy it behaves like a classic azimuthal GoTo mount; that is It has 2 motors and encoders that take you wherever you want in the sky! After retrieving the GPS coordinates of your observing location (via your smartphone or Google Earth, for example) and following the simple alignment procedure, you will be able to explore the Universe using your smartphone or tablet! It is not necessary to know the sky thanks to the database of more than 10,000 objects. Then, after targeting a planet, the Moon or a deep sky object (nebula, galaxy, cluster...) it compensates for the Earth's rotation by precise tracking.

Star Discovery even allows you, using Sky-Watcher Freedom-Find™ technology, move your instrument manually without losing positioning . You then have maximum freedom, choice and flexibility during your observations. Thanks to a load capacity of 5kg, you can use scopes up to 100/120mm in diameter or 127 Maksutov-Cassegrain as well as small Newtons (be careful with the length of the tube in all 3 cases). The retractable steel tripod is easily transportable.

During the day, it is a true photography platform ! In fact, the Star Discovery comes with an L-mount bracket capable of supporting DSLR cameras. You can then program up to 6 positions, the rotation speed... and the exposure time of your case from the app (using an optional shutter release cable). It all happens wirelessly, without touching the mount or instrument (when focusing). Then program your time-lapse, panoramic... in photo or video mode!
