After stationing an equatorial mount, the Right Ascension (RA) axis is parallel to the Earth's axis of rotation . To track celestial objects for a day, all you have to do is make one complete rotation about this axis in 24 hours, rotating in the opposite direction to the Earth's rotation. This is the advantage of the equatorial mount compared to the azimuthal mount. For this, we generally use the fine displacement wheel or hose, but It is possible to completely automate the rotation using a motor that is controlled by a remote control .

Sky-Watcher offers a motor that rotates naturally at sidereal speed (one revolution in 24 hours) but movements are possible in both directions with manual control, at different additional speeds for aiming, guiding, etc. The power supply is 6V, through a battery box (4 LR20 batteries, not supplied). It is possible to power the kit with other optional solutions (220V/6V transformer, battery pack, etc.).

This model is designed to be mounted exclusively on EQ3-2 / NEQ3-2 type mounts.
