Eyepiece with measuring scale MAGUS O10S 10x/20mm (D 23.2mm)
Magnification: 10x. Field of view: 20mm. Measuring scale with 0.1mm divisions
The eyepiece with a measuring scale is used to measure the size of observed samples and their structures in linear units: millimeters or microns. The measuring scale is located in the field diaphragm plane, with 0.1mm divisions. The eyepiece with a measuring scale is installed in place of a standard 10x eyepiece. A paired eyepiece without a measuring scale is installed in the second eyepiece tube.
The eyepiece is compatible with microscopes that have a 23.2mm eyepiece tube.
Preparation
Before taking measurements, the eyepiece's measuring scale must be calibrated for each objective to be used. A calibration slide is required for this: a stage micrometer with a scale. The minimum division is 0.01mm. The calibration slide should be placed on the stage, and the microscope should be focused on the measuring scale. The eyepiece should be rotated in the eyepiece tube until the stage and eyepiece scales are aligned in parallel.
Calculation of the increment value of the integrated eyepiece scale for each objective
If using low-magnification objectives, you should calculate how many divisions of the integrated eyepiece scale fit into the stage micrometer scale.
If using medium and high magnification objectives, you should calculate how many divisions of the stage scale fit into the eyepiece scale.
The calculation for each objective is performed according to the formula:
Е = ТL/A, where
E – eyepiece division value
Т – stage division value specified on the stage micrometer (0.01mm)
L – number of divisions of the stage micrometer
А – number of divisions of the eyepiece scale.
The resulting values from calculating the eyepiece scale division for each objective should be recorded.
Calculation of the true linear size of an object
When measuring an object, you must first count the number of eyepiece scale divisions the object spans. The result is multiplied by the previously calculated scale value for the selected objective. The resulting value will be the true linear value of the object.
