Everything you need to know about the Sky-Watcher 150mm f/5 Newtonian
With a 150 mm primary mirror, the Sky-Watcher Newton 150 collects 73% more light than a 114 mm telescope. Under very dark skies, it is possible to see many celestial objects that are barely visible with smaller diameter instruments. It promises many discoveries for beginners. In planetary observation, it will reveal many details about Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon using a Barlow lens or a short focal length eyepiece.

Its Newtonian design offers several advantages over other families of instruments (Cassegrain glasses and telescopes). Mirrors are cheaper to manufacture for the same diameter and their average focal length (750 mm) is very versatile. You can therefore benefit, at an attractive price, from a bright telescope that will allow you to observe a wide field of observations. The central obstruction is also weaker than that of Cassegrain-type telescopes.

Unlike the very cheaply made or small diameter Newtonian telescopes, the 150, 200, 254 and 300 mm Sky-Watchers Newtonian have a parabolic primary mirror. The mirrors are spherically ground and then trimmed to achieve a parabolic shape (more expensive and difficult to obtain). This is an essential selection criterion for instruments larger than 130 mm and with short f/D.

Focusing is achieved by a dual-flow Crayford eyepiece. It allows you to obtain fine focusing thanks to the 1:10 reduction. A very appreciable advantage during observations at high magnifications and when taking images. It can withstand heavy loads (e.g. APN). A 31.75 mm adapter is supplied as standard to use eyepieces of the same format from the 50.8 mm output. An adjustment screw located at the bottom of the eyepiece holder allows you to maintain focus following the orientation of the optical tube.

To present the least possible obstruction, the secondary (flat) mirror mounting bracket has 4 thin branches, with a width of 0.5 mm. Being sufficiently rigid, they limit diffraction spikes on bright stars and excessive loss of luminosity. A 6x30 achromatic finderscope is also supplied as standard on its bracket, as well as a 28 mm (55°) LET eyepiece for low magnification observations (wide field). It should be completed with a short focal length eyepiece for planetary observations at high magnifications.

Everything you need to know about the Sky-Watcher HEQ5 mount
A "light" version of the imposing NEQ6 Pro mount, the HEQ5 Pro is aimed at hobbyists and beginners looking for a portable and attractive GOTO mount in terms of price. Tracking quality is improved with the Pro Series compared to previous versions without autopointing. It is possible to perform long exposure astrophotography sessions on the least bright objects. Even an autoguider port is provided as standard to significantly improve periodic error in right ascension.

The HEQ5 Pro is a very attractive solution to support numerous telescopes up to 235 mm in diameter. It allows the beginner to get started with imaging, using a PC and a second parallel instrument when autoguiding is engaged. The visual observer will appreciate the SynScan Go-To automatic pointing system delivered through an easy-to-use hand controller. In fact, there is no need to know the position of stars or distant bodies in the deep sky, the HEQ5 Pro is responsible for moving the instrument towards the target you wish to observe.

Automated time attendance system
After calibration (setting up) with the polar finder on the North Star, select the alignment of the mount on one, two or three stars. More than 49,200 objects are registered in the database, including the main catalogues (Messier, NGC, IC, as well as the planets, the Moon and the Sun). For maximum comfort, the mount moves quickly, up to 3.4°/sec using the control panel. Easy to use, it helps to quickly direct the instrument towards any galaxy, nebula, cluster or object in the solar system. Discover in detail the famous Andromeda galaxy, the fabulous curtains surrounding the heart of Orion, the Hercules cluster M13 and its heart rich in thousands of stars. Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon are also wonders to be examined without moderation.

The indication on the racket of the date, time and observation location combined with the "Tour" function allows the HEQ5 Pro mount to point at the most interesting objects throughout the night. Enjoy a guided tour of the sky at your observing location by clicking the "Enter" button according to the object presented in a drop-down list. Pointing accuracy can reach up to 1 arc minute by compensating for mechanical errors of the mount. This procedure called "Backlash" requires measuring the time between two opposite movements of the mount. The operation is simple to perform and, especially in astrophotography, saves precious time. The object you want to photograph is usually located in the center of the sensor... a real pleasure!
