The Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 10" Dobsonian features an open-truss optical tube design, making it an ideal and portable telescope for astronomy trips to dark sky locations. With an aperture of 254mm and a focal length of 1270mm, it offers the perfect balance for effectively studying solar system objects and deep-sky phenomena like galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and some double or multiple star systems. This telescope model reveals a wealth of fascinating cosmic details. These include lunar craters and maria as small as 1.5–2km, Jupiter's Great Red Spot and white ovals, the Cassini Division and other features of Saturn's rings, Saturn's moon Titan, and Mars' polar caps during oppositions. It highlights the structures of the brightest nebulae and galaxies, and resolves individual stars in open and globular clusters.
The Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 10" is a large and powerful telescope. However, despite its size and extraordinary optical performance, it remains easy for anyone to operate. The optical tube is mounted on a stable and portable Dobsonian base, which features a simple and intuitive alt-azimuth design for easy manual operation. The 2" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser, including a 1.25" adapter, offers universal eyepiece compatibility and precise focusing control. The instrument's maximum useful magnification is 500x. The supplied 10mm and 25mm (1.25") Plössl eyepieces provide magnifications of 127x and 51x, respectively.
The telescope's reliable performance is based on its quality internal optics, crafted from BK-7 glass – a trusted material in professional optical instruments. The parabolic main mirror is designed to focus all incoming light to a single point, eliminating spherical aberration. The mirrors are coated with high-quality aluminum, providing 92–95% reflectivity.
The optical tube is not a single piece but is constructed with an open truss design. Its main advantage over a classic solid tube is its easy transport and storage. When disassembled, the tube is an assembly of sturdy rods that takes up very little space. When assembled, it is as reliable as a solid one. A protective fabric cover is included to shield the mirrors from dust when the telescope is in use.
In addition to the eyepieces and protective cover, the Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 10" package also includes an 8x40 optical finder scope and a main mirror cooling fan. The cooling fan is powered by 8 AA batteries (sold separately).
