Omegon RC Truss Carbon Telescope – Professional Astrophotography for Your Observatory
Is astrophotography your passion and are you looking for the perfect telescope for your observatory? Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes combine a large optical tube of mirrors with near-perfect image quality. A pair of hyperbolic mirrors are responsible for offering a wide, well-illuminated field of vision, free of comatic aberration, and all in a compact format. The result: perfect stars right down to the edge of the image. That is why this is the system preferred by numerous observatories and professional institutes.
Choose professional technology for your private observatory too! Omegon RC telescopes are so well compensated that they can be used without problems even in the smallest observatories.
Summary of advantages:
- Hyperbolic mirrors: extremely sharp images and large field of view without correctors
- Quartz mirrors: greater focus stability without the need for readjustments for a always sharp image
- Compatible with large format CCD cameras: illumination of approx. 60mm
- Carbon Truss Optical Tube: Rigid Open Carbon Grid System
- High reflection: dielectric treatment with 92-94% reflection for clear, contrast-rich observations and astrophotos
- Fast cooling thanks to open design
- High-performance electric fan: minimizes the seeing or astronomical vision of the optical tube and accelerates its cooling
Hyperbolic mirror for better image quality
RC telescopes are equipped with hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors. Not with spherical mirrors, like Schmidt-Cassegrain systems. The design of the RC is very careful: the optical tube offers a wider field of view and considerably lower optical aberration.
Impeccable image quality in a larger field of view: this is the mission of these telescopes. That is why they are the preferred option for astrophotography. And that's also why RC optical tubes are ideal for CCD cameras, which means you can take sharp photos right down to the contour without the need for concealer. This way you can capture some beautiful snapshots of the sky.
Especially useful in a wider spectral region
RC telescopes do not have any lenses in the beam path. This is a great advantage, because refraction effects, such as chromaticism or dispersion, are avoided. The useful region of the spectrum beyond visible light is broader. Thus, you can enter the interesting world of ultraviolet and infrared rays with your camera.
Quartz main mirror
Surely if you have experience in astrophotography it has happened to you that the focus is out of adjustment during long exposure captures. Is very annoying! The advantage of this model is that it has 2 quartz mirrors. It undergoes almost no thermal expansion, so it produces fantastic images and maintains focus all night long.
The 2 mirrors of the telescope have a 92-94% reflective treatment for clearer and richer contrast images. Compared to "normal" telescope mirrors, with 88% treatment, it guarantees up to 17% more light.
Greater observation agility: fan for the main mirror
Just a slight, inconspicuous hum, but with a huge effect: the integrated 12V fan cools the main mirror up to 50% faster, so your telescope can reach optimal image quality much sooner. Long waits are over!
Open Design Carbon Optical Tube
Most professional telescopes are open tube. Well, this telescope also benefits from the advantages associated with this design. Carbon grilles are rigid, light and very resistant to temperature changes. In fact, that's another reason why his approach is so stable. Air renewal is better in open tubes and prevents a microclimate from being generated inside.
Large unobstructed aperture: 3" eyepiece holder
The rear end is extremely important. A 3" linear Crayford eyepiece with ball bearing ensures enough space to illuminate even the widest fields of view without vignetting. This hybrid between Crayford and rail combines the simplicity of Crayford eyepieces and the stability of a good rack eyepiece.
- Always perfect orientation to your observation target: fully rotating eyepiece holder
- 2 and 1.25" adapters with integrated compression ring
- Precision Focus: 1:10 reduction for minimal focus adjustment
- Graduated scale: to quickly regain focus
- High stability: support of the camera on the optical axis without tilts for a sharp image
Individually adjustable eyepiece holder
A total of 6 collimation screws will allow you to adjust this 3" eyepiece holder with maximum precision on your mirror optical tube. This will prevent unwanted sliding, keeping the eyepiece or its camera always on the optical axis. Class: this eyepiece holder has a diameter 3" homogeneous port, which cannot always be taken for granted, as many similar ports taper towards the eyepiece side.
Better image quality than with SC telescopes
RC telescopes are, in essence, completely different from SC or Maksutov telescopes. These are open systems without a correction plate that adjust much faster to room temperature than SC telescopes. In addition, since they do not have a plate on the front, these telescopes capture clearer images without the risk of reflections. Ritchey-Chrétien systems are the most corrected dual-mirror telescopes available. The sharpness of the field of view, including the outline, is impressive. So it's no surprise that virtually all large research telescopes at professional observatories use these types of optical tubes.
And now available to everyone
The manufacture of hyperbolic mirrors is a science and an art. Until not many years ago, RC telescopes were some of the most expensive in the world and were only found in international research institutions. However, today this technology is also affordable for expert amateur astronomers.
