The darkfield condenser is used for darkfield microscopy. The darkfield technique in stereomicroscopy is used for gemological research to evaluate and detect hidden defects in precious, semi-precious, and ornamental stones.
The darkfield condenser is installed above the transmitted light illuminator, in the base of the stereomicroscope instead of the transparent plate.
