The polarizer/analyzer set is used to enable the polarization technique. It consists of a polarizer and an analyzer. The intensity of the transmitted light varies depending on the position of the polarizer and the analyzer. When they are mutually perpendicular to each other, a complete darkening effect is observed.
Polarized light is used to study anisotropic samples of geological, biological, and polymer types.
