Objective for brightfield observations.
The resolution limit of the 40x/0.65 objective is 0.43 µm.
Chromatic aberrations are corrected for blue and red, spherical aberration for green, and field curvature is corrected for 90% of the field of view diameter.

The objective is designed for the infinity-corrected tube length. The parfocal distance is 45 mm. When using a 10/22 mm eyepiece, the field of view diameter is 0.55 mm. The objective is designed for use with samples with 0.17 mm coverslips.

The lower limit of the useful microscope magnification, when using a 40x objective, is 325x. A lower magnification does not allow distinguishing the details of the sample whose image is formed by the objective.
The upper limit of the useful magnification, when using a 40x objective, is 650x. Higher magnifications are considered "empty" as they do not provide any new details in the sample image. 
When using a 40x/0.65 objective, use 10x–15x eyepieces to take advantage of the useful magnification of the microscope.

Plan achromatic objectives form an image that is equally in focus at the center and edges, thus distortion is negligible. This resistance is used for digital imaging and for combining with widefield eyepieces with a 22 mm field of view.
