To produce a three-dimensional image, a CMO stereomicroscope uses a common main objective, positioned exactly perpendicular to the specimen plane. The light passing through or reflected from the specimen enters the main objective and is distributed into two parallel optical channels. The stereo angle is 11°. The light is then introduced into the eyepieces or digital camera. Changing the main objective modifies the magnification, field of view, and working distance of the microscope.

MAGUS Stereo A6, A8, and A10 microscopes are equipped with a 1x achromatic objective, which provides a high degree of correction for field curvature, as well as spherical and chromatic aberrations.
The MAGUS 05APO 0.5x plan apochromatic main objective increases the working distance and expands the field of view in the eyepieces and digital camera, while reducing the total magnification of the stereomicroscope. The apochromatic optical system improves the correction of spherical and chromatic aberrations, resulting in sharper and clearer images.
