- 120mm Achromatic Telescope for Planetary Observation
- Large diameter for beautiful detailed observations of the Moon, Sun, Jupiter and Saturn
- Discover some of the brightest deep sky objects.
- Multipurpose, Astronomy and Earth observation
- Compact and portable
120 mm diameter achromatic tube, The Sky-Watcher 120/600 tube is one of the brand's large diameter refractors , versatile, which also allows you to observe the deep sky. In fact, Its 120mm lens harvests 44% more brightness compared to a 100mm aperture tube . With no central obstruction unlike a telescope, this 120mm refractor collects almost as much light as a 130mm Newton. Its 600mm focal length gives it a low aperture ratio (f/5), making it extremely compact and portable . In visual observation, take a tour of the most beautiful Messier objects and discover the brightest nebulae, galaxies and globular clusters.
The achromatic objective with two air elements, which correct a significant part of the chromaticity, is multi-coated and provides quality images at low and medium magnifications of Jupiter, Saturn (the ringed planet) and the numerous lunar craters. Sun, By completing the instrument with a solar filter , it reveals sunspots on its surface depending on the day. Thanks to its compact size, it is also interesting for nomadic astronomy and terrestrial observation .
The telescope can also be used as a second instrument for astrophotography (parallel autoguiding).
Focusing is achieved through a bi-flux rack and pinion focusing system. A 31.75 mm adapter is supplied as standard to use eyepieces of the same format. A clamping screw located on the top of the focuser helps maintain focus according to the orientation of the telescope .
The cylinder is collimated at the factory and requires no maintenance unlike reflecting telescopes. A little extra: on the first clamp, a Kodak pitch screw allows you to adapt an SLR camera in parallel.
Mount
The AZ3 azimuthal mount is suitable for terrestrial or astronomical observations . The AZ3 mount is equipped with 2 axes of movement, each with fine adjustment: a height axis (up/down) and an azimuth axis (right/left). A friction system controls high amplitude movements in height. There is no brake. The 2 flexibles allow you to make fine adjustments in the 2 axes , to center an object in the eyepiece, for example.
