Telescope for beginners and planetary enthusiasts, with a 152mm aperture and upgraded features such as the Crayford focuser and high-quality parabolic mirror
This telescope is suitable for stargazers of all ages. It offers almost the same sharpness of an APO refractor with 120mm aperture, but for a fraction of the price. This telescope can collect 78% more light than a 114mm Newtonian reflector.
A summary of the advantages:
- High-quality parabolic optics with an aperture of 152 mm and a focal length of 1200 mm
- 94% reflection for a brighter, high-contrast image
- Large 1.25" high-precision Crayford focuser with T2 photo adapter
- Robust metal tube and adjustable mirror supports for optimal images, even after many years of use
- Easily expandable, even for astronomical photography.
GSO Dobsonian telescopes are very good value for money . The optical performance of this type of reflecting telescope is excellent, thanks to the high-quality main mirror and improved mirror coating. This telescope also boasts robust mechanics and easy handling. Dobsonians offer the highest performance in sky observation compared to other instruments within the same price range.
Image contrast and sharpness : We recommend this telescope to all stargazing enthusiasts. Objects such as nebulae and galaxies appear brighter with these telescopes than with similar ones with the same aperture, thanks to better anti-reflection protection. More details can be recognized in images of the Moon and planets. The secondary mirror is optimized to minimize vignetting. The thin struts of this mirror also improve contrast and sharpness.
Setup and Startup : GSO Dobsonians are simple and sturdy in construction, so even a beginner can quickly get the hang of the telescope and have it ready in just a few minutes. Place the rocker arm (the bottom of the instrument) and then put the tube with the ball bearings on top. Tighten the springs and you have the instrument ready for observation.
Additional options : A GSO Dobsonian is the ideal companion for getting started in astronomy with a high-quality telescope. If you become interested in astronomical photography later, we also offer tube clamps so you can use the Newtonian on an equatorial mount. We also have filters, additional eyepieces, correction systems or even binoculars for this telescope.
The quality of the main mirror : The main mirror is the most important element for image formation. At GSO we use selected mirrors of the highest quality, which offer better results than with limited diffraction, so you can enjoy observing without discomfort.
The Crayford Focuser : A robust Crayford focuser has several advantages over a simple rack and pinion focuser:
- Smooth, responsive adjustment for precise focusing even at high magnifications
- smooth clamping of eyepieces and adapters using a fixing ring; This prevents a screw from pressing directly on the eyepiece and tilting it
- ball bearing so that the image does not tilt during focusing, something that happens with many cheap focusers.
Locating and tracking celestial objects : Locating and tracking nebulae, galaxies and planets are done by hand with this telescope. That is why they have to be precise and smooth. A tension spring for lifting provides controlled pressure. This prevents the telescope from moving in situations such as changing the eyepiece. The horizontal axis is mounted on a ball bearing to ensure smooth movement.
