10mm larger than a 70mm refractor, 80mm Sky-Watcher refractor provides brighter images (30% more light) . Discover the rings of Saturn floating around the planet or the Galilean satellites near Jupiter. The Moon, full of numerous easily observable craters, presents a surprising level of detail and remains a prime objective. The Sun, by completing the instrument with a solar filter, allows sunspots to appear on its surface depending on the day.

Ultra-compact and transportable, the 80/400 is very interesting for both nomadic astronomy and terrestrial observation . The telescope can also be used as a second instrument for astrophotography (parallel autoguiding). The optics are made up of two achromatic elements that correct an important part of the chromaticism. The use of multi-layer coatings on the lenses increases light transmission compared to competing models. The optical system of the glasses does not have a secondary mirror, which guarantees greater contrast than telescopes of equivalent diameter.

The AZ3 azimuthal mount is suitable for terrestrial or astronomical observations . The AZ3 mount is equipped with 2 axes of movement, each with fine adjustment: a height axis (up/down) and an azimuth axis (right/left). A friction system controls high amplitude movements in height. There is no brake. The 2 flexibles allow fine adjustments to be made in the 2 axes , to center an object in the eyepiece, for example.
